Buddha Bodhivana Monastery (The Forest of the Buddha’s Enlightened Knowledge) was established in 2001 when a group of Buddhists from Melbourne offered some forest land to the Sangha of Ajahn Chah at Wat Pah Pong in Thailand. It became a branch monastery of the Ajahn Chah lineage on 16 June 2002 with Ajahn Kalyano as the Abbot. Ajahn Kalyano received upasampada at Wat Nong Pah Pong in 1985 and trained with Ajahn Anan at Wat Map Jun from 1991 to 2001. The monastery currently has 450 acres of forest land and is 90 minutes drive from the centre of Melbourne. The monastery is open daily from 9.00am until 1.00pm and regularly holds meditation workshops and retreats. Buddhabodhivana is an affiliated Branch Monastery.
